Cllr Darren Scully is a member of Fine Gael since the age of 18 and was elected to Naas Town Council for the first time in June 2004.
Since his election to Naas Town Council, Darren has worked hard on the issues and challenges facing the people of Naas. He is Chairman of the Garda Liaison Committee and a member of the Kildare County Council Environment Strategic Policy Committee. He also chairs the Town Council Festival Sub-Committee, which has responsibility for organising the highly successful Family Day each September at Aras Chill Dara, and various events in the town during Punchestown Race Week. In 2006, Darren chaired the Naas Town Council Ryder Cup Committee, which organised a range of highly successful events in the town. Darren was the Fine Gael candidate in the 2005 By - Election, where he secured 18% of the vote, in what was widely hailed as a impressive performance for a first-time candidate. Darren also contested the 2007 general election, securing 4250 first preferences. Darren was unaminously selected to contest the 2009 local elections by Naas Fine Gael in June 2008, along with Emer McDaid and Alan O'Kelly. Darren is committed to giving the people of Naas the best possible representation if re-elected. His priorities are: - Securing jobs and investment
- Cutting crime - more Gardai on the beat, where and when they are needed
- A clean and safe urban and rural environment
- Social and affordable housing for those who need it
- More facilities for children and teenagers
- Better infrastructure and an end to gridlock
Darren has shown that he has the experience, energy and ideas to make a real difference to our community. Please feel free to contact him if there are local issues that require attention. |
